PDVSA’s working class affirms that foreign actions, far from intimidating them, unite them in defense of independence and national sovereignty, chanting the slogan “The homeland is not for sale, the homeland is defended!”
The working class of Petróleos de Venezuela ( PDVSA ) is mobilizing this Thursday, December 18, in several cities across the country to condemn the threats from the United States and defend independence and sovereignty over oil reserves , considered the largest in the world.
Through a statement issued at an assembly and read in Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, the PDVSA workforce denounced the escalation of US warfare and reiterated its stance of resistance against what they consider an attempt to plunder their natural resources.
The workers stated that the nation has developed its oil industry with determination, overcoming various attacks from the domestic and foreign right wing. Among the attacks mentioned, the statement highlighted the 1990 oil opening that led to the 2002 sabotage, and the unilateral coercive measures continuously imposed since 2015.
“Despite these attacks on the industry, we have remained steadfast in our struggle , resisting in the name of our self-determination to decide what we want to exploit from our wealth ,” the workers stated.
The working class recalled that history has shown how the United States and some transnational corporations have extracted Venezuelan reserves, plundering the country without due process or compensation. In this context, they emphasized the importance of the nationalization processes that have occurred throughout Venezuelan history as an act of sovereign defense to reclaim resources and put them at the service of the people.
The statement quotes the liberator Simón Bolívar, who said that " the United States seems destined by Providence to plague America with misery in the name of liberty ." The “sons and daughters of Bolívar, heirs of Chávez,” in perfect civic-military-police unity, asserted that the history of 1908, the year associated with the handover of the oil industry, will not be repeated.
They affirmed that foreign actions, far from intimidating them, unite them in defense of independence and national sovereignty, chanting the slogan " The homeland is not for sale, the homeland is defended! "
This rejection comes after US President Donald Trump accused Venezuelans of having " stolen their oil ," a statement that PDVSA’s working class considers a justification for stealing reserves belonging to the Venezuelan people.
In nationwide demonstrations, workers from Venezuela’s main state oil company, backed by constitutional president Nicolás Maduro, have raised their voices against any attempt at interference .
The slogan “Beware, Bolívar’s sword marches through Latin America!” echoes through the streets. Likewise, PDVSA workers at the Yagua Plant in Carabobo state are mobilizing, chanting " Gringo, out! " reaffirming their sovereign control of oil reserves.
Along the same lines, from the Paraguaná Refining Center in Falcón state and other regions, PDVSA oil workers, united “with study, work and rifle,” emphasized that " the homeland is not for sale, the homeland is defended ."
Within the framework of a comprehensive strategy to defend national sovereignty, President Nicolás Maduro recently urged the working class and the oil, gas, and maritime sectors of the world to organize an international mobilization against energy piracy.
During a meeting with union representatives, the head of state denounced Washington’s attempt to reinstate mechanisms for the forced appropriation of strategic assets, which he said poses a threat to the stability of global trade . He stressed the need to denounce these practices in multilateral forums to defend the right to free navigation and fair trade .
Despite recent attacks by US imperialism, PDVSA reported on Wednesday, December 17, that its crude oil and derivatives export operations are proceeding normally , despite President Donald Trump’s announcement of a naval and oil blockade against Venezuela .
In an official statement, the country’s main industry emphasized that it will uphold its rights regarding free trade and free navigation , in accordance with International Law and in full exercise of its national sovereignty.
The institution emphasized that all its maritime and commercial operations are carried out in strict adherence to the National Constitution, international maritime laws and the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations (UN).
This legal framework underpins the industry’s resilience against external aggressions that attempt to destabilize the national economy. The state-owned company noted that, despite facing years of unilateral coercive measures and sabotage .
As proof of this, on December 15, PDVSA denounced and neutralized a cyberattack aimed at paralyzing its operations, an action it described as part of a US harassment strategy to seize energy resources through the use of force.
The company asserted that the attack failed to affect strategic operational areas thanks to the expertise of its technical staff , limiting the impact solely to administrative systems. Furthermore, the oil company condemned acts of piracy in the Caribbean Sea , including the recent theft of a Venezuelan vessel, and accused Washington of maintaining a policy of constant harassment.
