I was a kid and was at the lake with my family and their friends. I suddenly exclaimed “That boat has massive tampons” talking about the pontoon boat. My parents looked mortified and everyone was weird to me the entire day until the car ride home where it was explained that those were pontoons, not tampons.

I will say it if I am quoting someone verbatim, it is in the punchline of a non-offensive, non-racist joke, or if Samuel L Jackson orders me to (in person.) Only one of those has ever happened.
I’m not a fan of baby talk or ‘diminutive’ words. I cannot call it a wee-wee. I just say “Don’t grab your crotch,” I feel physically repulsed by things like that and I have a low opinion of those who do use words like that.
Best I can do is try to remember to say GNU/Linux instead of just Linux, unless referring specifically to the kernel.
