My reasoning is we should do both, nuclear and renewables both have useful properties in the short and long term and the idea we can’t afford both seems ridiculous when we can apparently spend huge amounts of money on things like space tourism and giving amazon more money back in rebates than they paid in taxes to begin with.

I was a bit off the mark, its not that the models they use aren’t black boxes its just that they could have made them interpretable from the beginning and chose not to, likely due to liability.

iirc it recently turned out that the whole black box thing was actually a bullshit excuse to evade liability, at least for certain kinds of model.

The placebo effect also works even if you know its a placebo… Though sometimes I wonder if that information is in itself some kind of benevolent false information campaign to create a second layer of placebo effect around placebos. A placebo effect of the placebo effect working even if you know about it as it were.

I still never understood what Cuba actually did that makes the US sanction them to this day. As far as I can tell they were a neutral country actually leaning slightly in favour of the US right up until they were suddenly branded communist (in the soviet sense) and more or less pushed into Russias arms.
