Mother just had to stand and support it whilst my sister did up some screws (at this point it was just a rectangle with no internal support so gravity wants to turn it into a rhombus). She starts getting bored and checks her phone leading to it tilting and the top section falls out and brains my sister on the head. After some choice words we put it back together and then she manages to do the exact same thing the second time, right on top of the bump made by the first incident. It was like a laurel and hardy sketch. My sister was very much not amused.

Not OP but I would say because it is a smaller list where if you want to donate and make a big difference to the project then you know it is good to give money to pretty much anyone other than the over funded ones.

The Volt is a PHEV, I think the Bolt is the pure EV. I was considering its Vauxhall badged version years ago as a choice for a company car.

A Nikon D3200 I’ve had for year I like using for nice landscape pictures and portraits but I used to use it as just my ‘everything’ camera - a role now taken by my phone.

Willing to give this a go. My go-to for getting non-repo debs automatically has been deb-get which works well but seems susceptible to issues when changes in the software it lists causes it to break and whilst the fix itself is usually made pretty quickly, it seems to go long periods of time between PR merges and releases (which includes adding new software). If this is a viable replacement for it then i’d love to start using it.

I have to admit that I don’t. I have done a couple of one-off donations before but I generally hope that my karma is balanced by some of the effort I put into helping out with a couple of projects.

That said, I’ve been utterly floored as to how generous the community has been with donating to one project I help with in particular. We added a donation platform with OpenCollective early on in the project but kind of hid the link away a little in the navbar, I thought we might get a tiny bit thrown at us every so often. When Distrotube did a video on us, one of the comments he made is that we should make the Donate button much more obvious, we did and now we have a whole bunch of super generous sponsors backing the project and making it possible. We keep the spending as open as we possibly can - it mostly goes into our backend hosting costs and website stuff and really does help it all stay alive.

Never really had much of my Grandma’s food other than her Christmas fruit cakes. My Mum would only ever cook out of necessity and never anything fancy. It was my dad that did all the nice cooking in my house.

The moment you exclude any group or persons from your licence, it is, by definition, no longer open source.

Of course that doesn’t sit well with some people and there are some initiatives to try to account for that, for example the Hippocratic License that allows you to customise your licence to specifically exclude groups that might use your software to cause harm or the Do No Harm license with similar goals.

Honestly, I find it hard to object to the idea. Some might argue it is a slippery slope away from the ideals of software freedom (as has been the case with some of the contraversial licenses recently like BSL and Hashicorp. I’m not a hardline idealist in the same way and if these more restrictive licenses that restrict some freedoms still produce software that might otherwise not exist then I’m happy they are around.

Would I use one? Probably not, for me, whilst I like the idea, I think the controversy generated by using a non-standard licence would become its defining feature and would put off a lot of people from contributing to the project.

Discord is still a legitimate form of contact and support for a lot of people. Out of interest, where do you see that line? I can only see Discord mentioned alongside e-mail and some other (even less tasteful than Discord) contact methods for support.

To all those downvoting I’m not saying that Holesail is using Discord correctly, just saying that just having Discord (or any other chat platform) as an option shouldn’t be an instant red flag and it depends on how the project actually utilises it.

Personally I think it’s fine-ish given the actual number of topics being created - it seems to be easily low enough to not cause questions adhereing to the rules to be pushed down the list and buried with easier or more sensational questions. I think the danger of being a stickler to the rules is that you just drive people away or make them too intimidated to ask. Yeah it is annoying but I think it is fine to just downvote and move on as you say. Splitting the community I think would potentially do even more damage.

Now if there were significantly more topics being created per day then my answer would be different and I would absolutely encourage more active moderation and adherence to the rules.

Surprisingly good… I mean it is SORN atm waiting for time and money to fix it up a bit but it is ULEZ compliant! I only ever use it for fun now, I have a much more boring car for every day use. And although I’ve lived in London suburbs or commuter towns all my life I think I’ve paid the CC maybe once or twice? I refuse to drive in central london, public transport is much better for that.

Not that unusual if it was in its native Australia or even in America but I have a Vauxhall Monaro VXR with the big V8. Basically a rebadged version of the “hot” Monaro - the Holden/HSV Coupe GTO. Also sold as a Pontiac GTO in America. I think only around 500 of that particular model was sold here and the idea of a muscle car isn’t really a very “British” thing, you rarely see much beyond 3L V6s outside of the most expensive cars.

Battleborne - I found it enjoyable but because it was superficially similar to Overwatch it absolutely bombed.
