  • Crazy, ain’t it? I’m pretty consistently amazed at the poor media literacy I find on Lemmy.

Israel is obviously perpetuating a genocide.

That being said, this source is not reliable due to obvious bias and/or being propaganda. When you see something like that you look for other sources that are fact based and dry.

It’s weird, I see the same behaviours and fanaticism on Lemmy that I saw from Qs and f right wing nuts. Just coming from the left now. Fucking facts are getting hard to discern.

Grew up in North Alabama. There were June bugs that were more golden when I was a kid. Some of them looked like they were made of gold, and weren’t green like they are now. We’d tie a string around a leg and fly them like little dive bombers. Which is pretty terrible, but didn’t know any better.

Pick up an electron and show it to me. That shits imaginary. Also, EEs make the worst mechanical engineers because they have no concept of manufacturability.

MEs? They don’t know shit either. Just cause you can draw it doesn’t mean it’s possible. Also, GD&T, learn what a reasonable tolerance is or it’s going to cost 10x what it should.

Engineers need to get off my lawn.

Sound engineers seem to be okay. They seem to smoke a lot of weed.

  • The manual lathe is the most dangerous piece of equipment in a shop in terms of fatalities. They cannot be made ‘safe’. You can only train people how to use them safely and not put idiots on them.

I’ve seen the chuck key of shame used and support its use. My rule was one chuck key fuckup, second offense, immediate termination.

I used to have a safety presentation on lathes. It was called, “The Happy Fun Lathe Safety Presentation.” Kittens and puppies on the title and chock full of gore.

I mean, I have a home server setup with 32 terabytes of NAS in a RAID 5 running the *Arrs and Jellyfin pulling from Usenet. Also running Calibre and paying for Anna’s.

Like I told a friend that got huffy with me over how I do my sailing, “I been pirating since you had babyteeth.”

You can be prickly if you want, but increased piracy is a symptom of a service problem. If Netflix hadn’t gone to shit, I’d still be using it. I’m considering paying for Samsung’s art subscription for my TV.

I will pay a reasonable price for convenient media. Make it difficult or expensive enough, and I’ll sail the high seas. Time is money.

  • I’ve got a bunch of horror stories that take some detail to explain, but I remember a couple moments of shock in particular.

Was actually a Methodist service, Easter Sunday. it was when they cut a baby lamb’s throat and it bled. It was great special effects with a real lamb but children started crying.

Also, the time we all went to see Passion of the Christ, 9:00 or 10:00pm showing. There was a mother smacking the shit out of her toddler for crying when the torture started. I’m a different person now and would put a stop to something like that now.

Damn skippy. I’ve learned I’m an atheist with a pagan heart.

I’ve found that I must be hunting something when I go in the woods or on the water. Animal, vegetable, or something else. Don’t care if I actually kill, catch, or find; there just has to be a goal. I love taking other people and helping them get in tune with the world.

This sounds like excellent advice. I don’t even have a small tractor yet. Before steers, I’m going to have to string new fence. Next spring, if I’m lucky and have worked real hard, I’ll be getting a bottle calve or two.

Did find a cinder block shed with a good roof that wasn’t even listed. Has a loading ramp for a pickup. I’m real tempted to just outsource it.

Have a hernia and don’t know if I can do it.

Do have a root cellar that will be perfect for hanging.
