  • This reminds me of way back when i beat a virus with task manager.

This one was showing as a process in task manager. If you killed it, it would just reappear moments later. I even tried finding the folder it was installing on my pc via rightclick on the program in task manager and clicking “open file location” closing the program and deleting its install folder. But it would still come back, installed somewhere else.

After some time messing around, i noticed that another program would show in the task manager, then the virus would appear, and then the other program would close and disappear from the task manager. All within about 1 or 2 seconds

So i killed the task, waited for the other program to appear right click it fast, open file location, and there it was, a different folder with a program that auto runs when the virus is removed to reinstall the virus and close itself to avoid detection.

I deleted that folder and then killed the virus program in the task manager, and it didn’t reappear. I had won!

I seem to recall it was resistent to virus scanners for this reason.

But this was about 20 years ago so i doubt there are viruses that unsophisticated now.

  • You’re not wrong. There’s a good amount of great games on that list.

The problem is that these are straight ports, bugs, and all.

The worst part is the janky controls.

On goldeneye, perfect dark and jetforce gemini you have to remap the controls on the switch settings and select a different control configuration in game to make them playable and even then the sticks are way too sensitive with no calibration options.

They release goldeneye on xbox 360 and fixed alot if not all of these issues and upscaled and widescreened everything, and it was a much better experience.

Some games play well, mario and banjoe kazooie are good. Not had any problems with waverace.

Lylat wars is a bit messy.

Pokemon stadium is fine, but less fun without the game boy attachment to transfer pokemon to use in battle.

    Paper mario is great.

But this is just the 64. Then theres the snes, nes gameboy, advance and genesis. Each with a plethora of games I’ve never heard of, despite these being the consoles i had as a child.

I just think this wasn’t what they sold to us when it was announced, and it shouldn’t take 3 months to release a new title that no one has ever heard of.

  • No! Its a joke. N64 has been on switch for 4 years. In that time they have released about 10 games anyone would actually play. The rest are pretty much trash. Tell me you have even opened “operation winback”

If they spent as much time porting games to NSO as they do to crushing emulators then i would feel like the money im spending for NSO was more worth it.

Where is duke nukem 64? Where is conkers bad fur day? Where is rampage world tour, clay fighter 63 1/3, diddy kong racing, star wars shadows of the empire or rogue squadron, donkey kong 64, mystical ninja, doom 64?

There was a huge pool to pull from. It just seems a bit lacking for 4 years when i can get an emulator and a rom pack and play with custom mapped controls at higher fps on any device i own.

They could make that happen. And i would pay for it.

  • Go and get checked for sleep apnea.

This was happening to me alot. Waking up multiple times a night, desperate for water, like, pints of it, then do a big wee and back to bed.

I started getting issue with staying alert and awake in the day, i was dozing off in work meetings (not fully, but like when your head dips and just jolt awake again)

If you dont have it, then great, mark that off the list.

If you do have it, get it dealt with because it’s bad for your heart as your body uses adrenaline to wake you when you stop breathing and leaving it untreated shaves years off your life.

If you let it go too far you can be suspended from driving and all sorts until you get it under control.

I went a different way to this.

I smoked for about 15 years, i used rolling tobacco and would get through 30-40grams in 4 days, im not sure what the conversion rate is but i was smoking easily 10-20 rollups a day. (Never really counted)

I tried to swap to vaping a few times but always fell back. I tried stopping cold turkey multiple times but always ended up going back even harder and smokk g more every time.

Eventually a friend got me on to a new vape, one of thos big cloudy ones that makes you look like a prick. But it had just the right feel, had good flavours and low nicotine content. (Lowest you could get).

At first i was vaping alot, loads. But the number of opportunities i had to vape was the same as when i smoked. So i would be beholden to that schedule daily. This meant my jicotine intake was drastically reduced and didnt leave me ratty because i was still getting some.

It seemed that as the days passed i was missing opportunities to vape more and more, until one day, i worked straight through without even thinking about it. Its been almost a year now and i just dont miss them at all.

I think that everyone is different and half the reason so many people struggle to quit based on advice from others is that we are all different, we smoke different amounts, we smoke for different reasons and different lengths of times and we all have our own tolerance to maintaining our will power.

For some, the decision to quit is enough and our resolve will be strong, for others we need weening and gradual reduction in order to quit. And everything in between.

What works for you or me may work for millions of people, but not for millions more. The best we can do is pass on our anecdotal experience like we both have and let people do what works for them.

  • They are both great. Johnny’s is definitely more than ok. Even subjectively speaking. You can say you dont like it, or it’s not for you, but objectively, it hits many nails on many heads and is an excellent version. Im not a fan of either band/artist. NiN has some great songs that i have heard. Johnny cash does, too. Hurt is definitely one of the best from both (of what i have heard)

  • I think you arw getting downvoted because people have misread your comment and think you didnt get my joke. The irony being that you clearly did get my joke and actually joined in on the joke with your comment. I think your spelling is too much like typoglycemia.

I seem to recall seeing a video or reading an article where they mention that the media turned antifa into a sort of separate word to warp its meaning. Instead of saying anti fascist, which has a clear meaning, they shortened it and changed the pronunciation ‘an teefa’ (something to do with which syllable you emphasise) so they could distort its meani g and demonise the word to make people think it was bad.

So now people dont realise antifa means anti fascist which is surely a good thing to be, and instead, they fear antifa as some kind of terrorist group, which is almost the opposite of what it is.

The funny thing is, as an outsider to this, living in the UK, our media doesn’t ever use the term, and when i heard it, my instinct was to look up its meaning. It’s interesting to me that i won’t know if i would have fallen for it if the media were using it in the same way over here to lead my understanding of its definition
