Off topic, but I’ve not seen that emoticon before (unusually left-facing too!) and it’s adorable.

The connection between Cap’n Crunch, phone system hacking, and Apple is a pretty important part of early hacking history.
This is exactly why lazily throwing your game’s text into a machine translation tool is not the same as hiring an actual localisation specialist.
A word for this is ‘backronym’

The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was seen as just one of several possible theories, rather than accepted fact.

I suspect the answer is because computer monitors evolved from televisions and video monitors, which standardised on 4:3 and, later, 16:9 for media viewing.
There was a brief period during the switch to LED when 3:2 and then 16:10 looked like they could take over, but 16:9 made a comeback and monitors have remained mostly in lockstep with modern TVs ever since.
Not sure about the minority now, but you will be in a few years if not already. Prebuilt PCs haven’t included optical drives as standard for years now, and good luck buying a new laptop that has one.
Optical media isn’t dead but it’s on life support and will become functionally obsolete in the next decade, same as what happened to magnetic media.

Two times zero is still zero

As always, the headline should be qualified with ‘… in the USA.’
Tintin the brave cub reporter — and his dog, Snowy — will enter the public domain in the U.S. well before they will in the European Union, where they are copyrighted until 2054. That’s because EU copyright terms extend 70 years past creators’ deaths, and Belgian cartoonist Hergé died in 1983.

I’ve played Risk of Rain 2 on and off for years and I’m not bored of it yet

Advertising isn’t going anywhere, so investing in/supporting ways to more ethically serve ads without harvesting private data seems like a good thing?

Except for all the small studios also struggling or going out of business because getting investment right now is really, really hard.
The megacorp closures and redundancies are far from the entire story, they’re just the headline grabbers.

Wow - Take Two shuttering this studio AND Roll7 (OlliOlli, Rollerdrome) just a month after they announced they’re buying Gearbox for almost half a billion. Absolutely catastrophic mismanagement. What a shitshow.
Took me a second but I see it now - very cartoony. I like it!
