  • I guess I’ll piggyback on the other comment and say laziness doesn’t exist at work. People definitely have off days or hate their job, but I’d say pretty much all the “laziness” I have experienced in my life at different jobs usually boils down to awful work conditions, managers or bosses that don’t care about you, not getting paid enough for the actual work, or general distain for your corporate overlords if you work for a big company. Some may call me lazy, but I’m working exactly as hard as I feel like they deserve when I’m 30 years old and still living in a studio apartment one paycheck away from being homeless. And I’m not gonna work at 100% when 100% of my needs are not being met. And I make more than anyone else in my family so I’m technically the “successful child.”

  • Kinda on topic, but imma give you some perspective into what it’s like to be a liberal leaning person in a deeply red county. Half my friends are independent or republican, all my coworkers and my boss are republicans, and even my dad is straight up MAGA. I’ve always voted third party because I hated that Democrats never get anything done, but I did vote heavily democrat this past election because I knew how fucked everything would be.

I would say 99% of people do not care or don’t think it’s a big deal. The ravenous Trump supporters you see on the internet and in videos are more of a minority than the norm. There are definitely some hardcore MAGA here but most everyone is just regular everyday people that are just carrying on like nothing is different. Most of them don’t spend much time on the internet and they hardly watch the news. I was talking about the tariff situation to a cashier at a gas station just this morning and it was the first time they were hearing it. And with the news not even covering half the shit that’s going on they probably never will. My roommate works downtown and he didn’t even know about the protests at the Capitol until I mentioned it to him 3 days later.

I guess my point is that the average person isn’t even informed. Not everyone spends a lot of time on the internet so they don’t even see what’s going on. They decide to vote specifically because the candidate says “Republican” and that’s the furthest thought that goes into it. Everyone talks about “this is what they voted for” as if any more thought went into their vote for Romney or McCain than their vote for Trump. And I don’t blame them for it because as far as they know, this was just like any other election. They’ve been bamboozled by local news to think everything is still exactly the same as they slowly pushed the Trump agenda onto them. The hardcore MAGA are definitely fascists in every sense of the word, but these regular everyday people are not fascists. They were just voting for the party they always voted for and were just expecting the same kinda shit from Trump’s first term, and the local news didn’t tell them anything different.

  • You could look at any country in the world and find leaders that were just as bad and even worse throughout history. I think the takeaway should be that shitty people exist. Some of it is a product of the times, some of it just being awful people. Shitty people have and always will exist.

Edit: With these downvotes it almost seems like y’all thought I was defending them. I absolutely was not defending them. :)

  • Not denying that. But at the same time I’m pretty sure every president since Bill Clinton would have done the exact same thing because they’re all a bunch of cowards. And things will only get worse under Trump. The only candidate that would have taken action is someone like Bernie Sanders. Like him or not, at least he’s not a fucking coward. I understand the need to protest, but refusing to vote for the lesser of two evils is basically just a vote for the more evil choice.

I think the expectation that a candidate should do everything you want them too is just naive. From the most mundane of policies to literal war crimes you can’t expect to agree on everything. There has never been a “perfect” candidate. Innocent people are getting killed on a daily basis over there and the fact that both candidates didn’t seem to give a shit is disgusting. And I know it’s a fucked up situation and it’s a fucked up choice to even make, but it was our choice to make and we fucked it up. We can blame the candidates all we want, but at the end of the day it was our choice to vote for who we wanted to vote for. And the result of that was fucking Trump.

  • Had a long winded comment written out but decided against sending it because like I said, I’m not trying to start an argument. I’m just trying to raise some points.

But just so you know I don’t think the genocide in Gaza is made up. And i think its fucked up that the US decided it doesn’t matter because Israel is our ally. But at the end of the day I’d vote against fascism any day of the week. Because that’s how you get even more genocide. And an abstained vote is a vote for your enemy.

  • Not trying to start an argument, just trying to make a point because I’ve been seeing “Genocide Joe & Kamala Cheney” around a lot lately.

What makes you immune to the propaganda? When I see name calling and throwing blame, it’s the exact same shit we see from Republicans. It just seems childish when we could have had actual debates. I’m not saying Kamala did a good job. She was a trash candidate.

And I’m saying this not to be a dick, honestly. I’m just saying maybe you’ve been drinking the Kool-Aid this whole time. The only difference is that it’s blue raspberry instead of cherry. Maybe give that a thought the next time you call a single dad struggling to buy food for his kids a fascist to his face. Because that’s the easiest way to get them to do the exact opposite of what you want.

  • Just to be clear i am not defending the extremists. So before you judge this just remember I’m not talking about shit like QAnon. Those guys can fuck right off.

I don’t hate all of them. They just fell for the propaganda, which none of us are immune to. I don’t think the average republican is as racist or fascist waiting for an opportunity to do shitty things. They are just people that want a better life for themselves and their families like the rest of us do. The problem is that they’ve been led to believe the democrats and immigrants are responsible instead of the literal people they voted into office and the corporations dictating their every choice through algorithms and misinformation. They’ve been bamboozled to the highest degree and we shouldn’t hate them for that. And we’ve been led to believe that republicans are responsible for all of our problems when it’s literally the people we vote into office fucking us over too. We’re both getting fucked by everyone in charge and we all take it in stride when it’s “our guy.”

I remember when I was a kid back in the early 2000’s there was a sentiment between pretty much everyone that the government doesn’t give a shit about us. Sayings like “fuck the system” were ubiquitous when I was I’m high-school regardless of if you were a Republican, Democrat, or somewhere in between. Nowadays we are being manipulated to hate each other for the smallest of reasons because it benefits the powers that be. And that’s not just Republicans. Like, when was the last time you had an actual conversation with a Republican that wasn’t trying to tell them they are wrong and explain why you are right? And when was the last time a Republican talked to you without doing the same thing?

Like when it really comes down to it, why the fuck are we fighting with each other when we all know FOR A FACT we are all being manipulated to hate each other? The extremists can’t fuck right off, but the average American from all backgrounds are being manipulated to hate each other instead of looking at the real issues. And now we have fucking Elmo doing a Nazi salute at the fucking inauguration of the president. And I’m sure a lot of average republicans are just as pissed as everyone else. And for the democrats, Biden just rode off into the sunset like it was another fucking Monday.

It’s all about money and power. If you go through and look at the majority of reasons why you hate the average republican or hate the average democrat, I can guarantee if you go back far enough you will find someone trying to sell you something or make money off you. And when you see the average American regardless of politics out in the wild, are they really that different from you? As long as we keep insulting each other for the dumbest shit, the only thing we are going to accomplish is exactly what they want. When a certain Mario brother brought us all together on a topic for once, how long did it take for us to go back to hating each other? A couple days? A week, maybe?

So I guess TL;DR is no, not really. We are all susceptible to propaganda and we all fall for it. Just remember the next time you’re pissed off at someone, try to think about whether or not it’s your opinion or what someone told you is your opinion. And that goes for both “sides.” The powers that be are bamboozling us all so we ignore the fact that it’s their fault.

  • Fuck Elon Musk, but don’t discourage human curiosity and stupidity. There’s nothing humans love more than conquering an impossible task. Humanity would have never made it as far as we did without people doing stupid and crazy shit. Humanity is the kinda species that just says “fuck it, we ball” and then proceeds to just do exactly what they shouldn’t do. Shit like walking across ice sheets to new continents because why not and go to the fucking moon.

Someone will figure it out eventually. Might take a couple hundred years (if we don’t kill ourselves first) but we’ll get there.
