I use keyd for software remapping now, and I like it a lot more than xkb’s esoteric options. It has functionality for layers like layer:C, where any “passthrough” input will have the defined modifier (or combo like C-S-M), but you can define whatever other bindings inside.

Long story short, I’ve used it to remap caps, control, shift (with a custom shift layer for some symbols), and meta, with overloads, double tap/hold into layers, oneshots, timeouts, and all sorts of (surprisingly fluid) nonsense. It’s so much easier than wading through xkb options for me.

To sidestep the question slightly less, I always got rid of capslock altogether instead of swapping. That still leaves true escape to be hit accidentally, but I think there should be an option to change escape too?

Edit: what I always used was

# make CapsLock behave like Ctrl:
setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps

# make short-pressed Ctrl behave like Escape:
xcape -e 'Control_L=Escape'

I don’t know if blocking all interaction is possible or not. It can be confusing with federation. As far as I understand, instance blocking pertains to posts and not users. You won’t see posts from the instance, but other mutually federated posts can still have comments from the instance’s users.

I’m less clear on how user blocking works, but I imagine you wouldn’t see comments the comments at all in that case. They can still see and interact with your comments/posts (I think), you just won’t see it yourself. You’d probably have to block each user individually since I don’t think Lemmy has that functionality.

True. I’ve worked in pretty small teams with usually 2-4 devs paired, so it kind of worked out as both what we got through, what’s next priority, and how we plan to split out that day. Especially if we were light on stories.

I can’t believe I forgot about Letterkenny. The riffing is just so good, it doesn’t get old, and every character is perfect. And the music, especially season one’s display is exactly my taste. The whole show is top notch, but season one is something special.

Schitt’s Creek, too. Both are Canadian gems. I love how like half of the cast is Eugene Levy’s family, and Dan Levy is bae. It’s one of the few comedies to bring me to tears, I’m pretty sure more than once.

I was recently watching Archer again, so I’ll have to see how the later seasons hit this time around. It’s one of those shows I’ve watched multiple times over (all the shows I mentioned are, honestly) and it seemed to fall off, but I might have just been finally burnt out lol.

And that’s a good point about Bob’s Burgers. It’s always pretty wholesome. I almost forgot about all the songs, too. They’re so good!

It’s Always Sunny and Bob’s Burgers are standouts for me, along with a lot of this thread.

I guess I’d categorize them both as shows where every character, however minor, contributes perfectly to the hilarity and overall vibe of the show. Really, any show with great chemistry/cohesion and ownership of the characters, where you couldn’t change a single thing to make it better. Psych and Futurama are a couple mentioned that fit the bill. Others are on the tip of my tongue but not coming to me. Oh, King of the Hill!

The best thing about IASIP and Bob’s Burgers is there isn’t a single off/bad episode in the first like 12 and 5 seasons, respectively. I stopped keeping up with both at some point when I was up to date and waiting. There’s not really a bad episode in any of those shows.

What I really like about Bob’s Burgers is how they record all together and have a lot of fast quipping and reactive energy.

Oh, and Archer! At least until things really switched up.

This, logseq, and PKM in general for me. I guess it’s not really “can’t live without” because I hardly know where to start, but the possibilities for organizing my mess of a brain are enticing.

It would probably help to have a project to work on and actually use the things rather than diving too deep into PKM conceptually… Really wish I knew about them in school, though.

No distro is really based on a window manager or desktop environment. Some provide defaults and premade configs. I kind of doubt any include hyprland as an option at installation, but, Wayland compatibility notwithstanding, there’s nothing stopping you from throwing hyprland on whatever you would like. The best approach is to take a Wayland-ready setup, like Leaflet suggests, and just install hyprland.

Aye, true. Though I would consider that case different (slightly, but not fundamentally wrt waves existing) from the sun because on earth there are atmospheric sound waves that just don’t reach out to the moon. But I hadn’t thought of the possibility of waves going into the sun, so there would be existing waves there too. More akin to making a sound on the moon by vibrating the moon itself I suppose.

Edit: and really, I’m talking out of my ass lol. There could very well be gases or some such to vibrate around the sun, even coming out of the sun and carrying vibrations, but I don’t know enough.
