Been loving the feature.

My next hope is that they’ll upgrade tab groups so (when collapsed) I can move them around like normal tabs. Right now it’s a little awkward if I start the group in the wrong spot.

I really like App-images. For the most part, they just work, download, run, done. And sometimes you want the flexibility to install something the distro’s pacakage manager doesn’t give you (or doesn’t have the latest version of). It’s a little extra work to put the app in system menus, etc though.

Package manger still preferred. Having the system deal with updates and dependencies is nice.

AUR is still good, but I’d take the App Image. Sometimes these work for me, sometimes they don’t. Still have to manually update them, AFAIK.

I like the Very Short Introduction series - they’re short non-fiction books aimed more-or-less at educated adults who aren’t so familiar with a topic. And I found their Philosphy book to be worth a read.

It spends some time introducing some common philosophical questions before covering a few classic texts.

It is really cool! I expected to it to enjoy seeing the machinery in both main parts come together, but I did not expect the surprise 1-2 cameo inside the console.

I just built the NES/CRT set. It was about 2600 pieces - not very big compared to a lot of the serious sets I’m sure. But the only real one I’ve done.

Definitely would do it again! It was very relaxing to take a few minutes out of each day and go through a bag of legos and instructions. I was kinda sad when it finished - the end product is cool, but the fun was really in putting it together and slowly watching it turn into a thing. I mean, I’d enjoy doing it again, but I don’t expect or plan to for any reason.

Jeremy Parish has less than 100k, and constantly puts out great retrospectives on the nooks and crannies of retro game history.

While the Retronauts podcast he’s involved with is well known, I feel like his YouTube kinda flies under the radar.

Yep, that’s the right train of thought.

I used to also dislike them, due to their limitations vs cash. But eventually realized that I liked having the excuse to go out of town to a fancy restaurant, or splurge on games I might otherwise decide I don’t need right now.

Strictly speaking, cash is better, yes. But gift cards can influence people to do things that might make them happier than typical rational or habitual decisions.

This guy does runs of the Pokemon Stadium games blindfolded. And I don’t fully know why, but it’s just super chill and enjoyable to watch these videos casually.

He’s right at 1000 now. Though I don’t see any recent uploads, hope he’s not done.

Only nitpicky wishlist item I have left is for an undo button on the match screen. (Though it’s not really needed since you can reset an item’s stats.)

Is there? I might be blind, or the F-droid version might be behind. Either way, not a big deal, but I don’t see it.

Another would-be-nice - a button to sort the list alphabetically, so I can see what’s already on it.

That’s fun! It’s silly, but I do enjoy thinking about what my favorite thing in xyz category is and jotting them down, from time to time.

Would be cool if this included some pre-populated sample lists out of the box. Love that the import option is readily available though.

Also, mild inconcevenice - after I view a list, rank some things, maybe repeat a few times, pressing back takes me from list, to rank, etc, when I want it to go back to all lists page. If that makes sense.

Letting rage take over is not the right path, never is. Give yourself a little time and space to cool off. (Not to diminish that the situation sucks. It sounds terrible and I’m sorry for that.)

However, if you’re not happy at work, looking for a new place is the thing to do. Update your resume, and take your time to find a new job. Importantly, don’t quit voluntarily until after you find something else. Don’t get ahead of yourself.

Excellent book. It’s very far from hands-on, and doesn’t even address UI in particular most of the time. Won’t tell you how to lay out anything, but puts you on the right empathetic mindset for design in general.

Based on OP’s description, might be just the ticket, but may also be too general for some tastes.

Had to get a new one recently too. I’ve had good experiences w/ Brother in the past too, but couldn’t find one that quite fit the bill. Needed color and for it to be able to handle cardstock.

Ended up getting an Epson, one that’s in the eco tank line. Has been great so far. Works just fine out of the box on Linux (LTS Ubuntu, anyway)

Nice! This is the one thing in other browsers that I wish I had in Firefox.

You didn’t rule it out, so my first thought is: play video games! It’s certainly on the line between consuming something and learning to do something. Some individual games can be a whole skill to study and hone for years (eg, learning a fighting game or a speedrun, etc etc)

Spirit of the question though, that would probably be considered content.

Other ideas, most already covered by other comments: art, photography, music, writing, programming, cooking, woodworking, or learning a new language.

SNES was my favorite growing up, but over time my nostalgia for the GameCube has really kicked in! I think it might have to be my answer now.

Generally I read HackerNews and Lemmy communities like this one. Once in a while interesting projects will get highlighted.

But for the most part, once I identify a need, I’ll look through alternativeto.net and see what the popular open source options are.
