Switching between consoles is a costly switch which will likely not pay off the price hike. That is assuming the competitor you’re switching to also doesn’t do a price hike shortly after you decide to switch.

They can switch to games from other publishers or other platforms ( e.g.: Nvidia ) instead of gamepass. But that would depend if the game is on there to begin with ( which is also an argument against game pass ). If all your friends are playing cod or Minecraft there isn’t really an alternative to switch to either.

Switching from Windows to Linux is ‘harder’ because people think it’s all terminals and magic and difficult. It generally isn’t nowadays. But there isn’t an initial cost to that. You don’t need to buy new hardware, there’s just a learning curve which doesn’t have to be that steep. But I have a technical background so could be biassed on that.

People can still buy games second hand or through the various discount websites I suppose. But I suppose you’ll still feel the price hike there as well. 10% off on a 60 or 80€ game is still the difference between paying 54 and 72.

Yeah it is kind of like the “trust, but verify” paradigm. It will likely generate useful code or a very good starting point, but you should always check if it actually does what you expect it to.

You can’t trust them blindly. But They’re very helpful in your day to day tasks.

YouTube music/premium never grew on me. It simply wasn’t as good as google play music. ( in my honest opinion )

They dont need to know any commands.

Everything in Linux is point and click. There’s an app store where you’ll find everything you’ll need. You will not need to open the terminal at all. All drivers will get installed through the OS.

Only things which do not work are the keyboard software and stuff to map macros to your keys and/or mouse buttons ans tweak the colours. Like the Razor software.

Distros like Ubuntu, popos, Linux mint are incredibly beginner friendly. There are, without a doubt, others.

They didn’t need to know any cmd/powershell commands using windows and they definitely don’t need to know how to use a Linux terminal to browse/mail/install software on Linux.

I’m all for it as long as you keep using your brain. Coworker of mine set something upn on AWS that wasn’t working. Going through it I found the error. He said he tried it using chatgpt. He knows how to do it himself, he knows the actual mistake was a mistake, but he trusted Amazon Q when it said the mistake was correct. Even when double checking.

I found it to be a helpful tool in your toolkit. Just like being able to write effective search queries is. Copying scripts off the internet and running them blindly is a bad idea. The same thing holds up for LLMs.

Used to have two. Went back to one. Professionally I feel like 2 monitors is a must ( excl. Laptop ). Or a single big ass monitor.

We’ve got ( a single ) curved screens at work. It also works because it’s wide enough.

Professionally I do believe it boosts productivity. Personally/at home not really ( for me ). It can be convenient if you play an MMO and want to look something up while still seeing the game.

I do have a spare monitor but I disconnected it as I was rarely using it.
