okay for this response I did do my due diligence and tried to find his Chinese name as I’m quite certain he doesn’t have the exact same name (in Chinese) as Li Hongzhi 李洪志 the founder and leader of the rabidly anticommunist antivax homophobic FLG cult.

I tried to search 微软 同济大学 (microsoft + tongji university in chinese) and only turned up the SCMP article in English. ah well.

Anyway that headline is hilarious. Romanization keeps giving, thanks. And, another one for the reverse brain drain 🎉

while religion is ultimately at odds with the whole scientific political diamat thing, I think it’s worth noting that some religious beliefs are not at odds with an individual being “good” comrades. (Obviously, beliefs like 《only judgment after death really matters/worldly matters are actually immaterial》 and 《predeterminism》 are… very at odds with anything we stand for, but ideas like ‘we must actively choose to manifest god’s will/godliness into the world’ are more aligned) After all, I think it would be negligent to present communists has having no morals or ideals at all, ours are just not aligned with the bourgeoisie, and religion can be aligned with either. Maybe a small clarification that “having ideals” isn’t the same thing as “Idealism”
