Very few people have a truly diverse software experience base. Many humans without a large, diverse experience base have trouble imagining there are problems outside their own experience.
There are millions of different problems that need software solutions. People with limited experience have opinions as to the “best” software.
People with large, diverse experience bases tend to be a bit more circumspect and can understand there is no single best answer. The “best” software for a given task depends on many things, including the problem, the schedule, the availability of resources, etc.

Sadly, a lot of Americans couldn’t name the states correctly either.

General rule amongst those groups: “If you can’t be good, be loud.”

We’re raised by parents that must be obeyed for our own safety. Some people eventually learn to accept their parents are imperfect people and not gods. Many people do not. They look to kings and gods to protect and provide for them.

Those that have power negotiate with kings and gods. People without power attempt to use the only techniques they know to negotiate with their kings and gods: begging and/or pledging loyalty and service in exchange for scraps.

Of course this is but one of many reasons many people worship power.

So can someone who is more familiar with this subject answer, “Are these pictures taken at the same time of day with or without seasonal adjustments to time (Daylight Savings Time, etc.)?”

I understand why the sun would move vertically over the year due to the tilt of the Earth, but what causes the horizontal movement?

If you value your privacy and you have a choice between using a browser to access a service vs installing their app, use the browser.

Online services can get much more information about you through an app vs the browser. Browsers are generally locked down more. Apps in general have access to much more information from your device.

For YouTube on IOS, I use Brave. It does a decent (but not perfect) job of hiding ads on YT.

Mouse gestures is the killer-app for me on Firefox. Hate surfing without it.

P.S. Do wish Firefox had tab groups tho.

There’s just currently no way for AI to understand the difference between dry humor and serious responses.

There’s no way for humans to do this either. We invented an entirely new series of markers (emoticons, /s, etc.) at a vain attempt at doing just this and still fail.

Heh. Years ago during an interview I was explaining how important it is to verify a system before putting it into orbit. If one found problems in orbit, you usually can’t fix it. My interviewer said, “Why not just send up the space shuttle to fix it?”

The truly hard part is detecting when the person you’re talking to doesn’t understand. Too many people pretend they understand when they don’t and are too embarrassed to ask questions.

Well, the mod decided that I didn’t really have a diagnosis, because they didn’t understand what I’d said, and kept DMing me to tell me that I didn’t have Lupus, and shouldn’t be receiving treatment for it.

Ignore it, if you can. 99% of the people on the internet (and real life, sadly):

• Don’t pay attention enough to understand what you said/asked.
• Assume that their life experience applies to everyone else on the planet.
• Have no idea what life is like for everyone else.
