You should read the Python documentation for how many ways there are to set it up. It’s not easy. It might be easy for a pro, but for a beginner it will be a nightmare. Python’s own documentation is thousands of words long for how to get it running correctly, it’s the exact opposite of what you want for beginners. And no it’s most definitely not the most human readable. They call it Ruby Prose for a reason.

I’m not here to have a flame war over Python vs other stuff, but I’ve used both professionally for over a decade. Python is good at stuff, but being human readable by beginners and having good tooling are not even in its ballpark. Absolutely do not use Python. It’s a nightmare to install on random computers and the majority of your time spent will be trying to get it working on everyone’s computer (that was my job at one point). As far as I remember, there isn’t a “good” C compiler that comes on windows and the one on Mac is missing some stuff.

I’d go with Ruby, it’s dead simple to install on every OS, easy to teach and learn, and doesn’t work differently across OSes. There’s an installer for it for windows and it comes installed by default on Mac (or it did? Maybe they stopped that).

You can run it all locally if you want…. They’re just docker containers. Set up a docker compose and docker compose up

Neither are good indicators of job performance. With take home tests you reward people with more free time, or those willing to spend an inordinate amount of time compared to someone who already has a job and a family. With puzzles you reward those who also have an inordinate amount of free time and those that prioritize remembering algorithms rather than business requirements. Neither is appropriate for an interview.

Oh interesting. I’m not sure about the sliding down, I’ve not had that happen. The one I linked holds it shape very well, the recommendations actually say you should fluff it every night but I have only fluffed it like 4 or five times since getting it years ago.

It handles memory just fine. I’ve run them all alongside each other for weeks with no issues (with a completely full hard drive from images). I rarely close programs or turn my computer off. Yes, an MBP is a great computer and well worth it, but they’re no where near as light and portable. If you’re doing image editing on the go then the air is a fantastic option.

“Paperweight”/“chromebooks” yet can run davinci, Lightroom, PS, and IntelliJ at the same time? I mean complaining about the cost sure, but MacBook Air with the Mx chips are just as powerful as the old Intel MBPs, if not much more powerful.
