🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump posted a graphic on Truth Social claiming Hormuz oil flow has recovered to 18 million barrels a day, almost back to the pre-war level of 20 million. It hasn’t. Of course, the Cheeto-in-Chief lied… again.

The independent shipping data says otherwise. Before the war, more than 130 ships crossed the strait every single day. On September 1, two days before Trump’s post, only about 5 ships crossed the strait, according to tracking firm Kpler. Not a single one of those five ships was a liquid oil tanker.

There is no independent source anywhere confirming “18 million barrels a day.” That number comes only from Trump’s own administration.

This is not the first time this has happened. In August, US officials told reporters that 40 tankers had crossed the strait carrying 16 million barrels of oil, all in a single night. Kpler’s actual tracked data for that entire week showed only 14 tankers crossed, total, not per night.

Back in March, Trump said the US Navy would begin escorting oil tankers through the strait. A few days later, Energy Secretary Chris Wright posted that a tanker had already been successfully escorted through. That post was deleted without explanation. The head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said at the time that no such escort operation had actually started yet.

Nothing new here. Trump and his administration keep lying about Hormuz because they’re desperate to claim a win they don’t actually have.
