❗️Hamas’s military wing mourns Rafah Brigade commander and Military Council member Nael Abu Obeid

Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, announced the death of Nael Atiya Mohammad Abu Obeid (“Abu Atiya”), a member of its General Military Council and commander of the Rafah Brigade, saying he was killed in an Israeli assassination on 15 September.

According to the Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeid joined the group in 1993 and took part in several major resistance operations. He commanded the Yibna Battalion in 2002, led the defense against incursions into Rafah camp, later held senior positions overseeing military specializations and operations, and was among the commanders of Al-Aqsa Flood, contributing to the planning and supervision of the cross-border operation within the Rafah Brigade’s area of responsibility before ultimately succeeding the late Mohammad Shabana as Rafah Brigade commander.

The statement praised his decades of service and vowed to continue the path of resistance.
