🇮🇶✍️🇺🇸 Iraqi and US officials signed an agreement for the full handover of the facility known as “Camp Victory”, located at Baghdad International Airport.

The document was signed to formally transfer the diplomatic support facility (Victoria Base), situated within the Baghdad International Airport complex, to Iraq.

The Victory Base, a sprawling complex surrounding the Baghdad International Airport, was considered one of the most important military and support installations for US forces in Iraq.

**While this is a step in the right direction, Washington controls many key aspects of the Iraqi government including economy, energy, Forex, trade and rearmament.

    irrelevant whining from me

Can I say, I always dread going through this channel to report news here. I’ve used some of their analysis when I feel it’s relavent, but God do I hate going through this cesspit of Nazi dogwhistles with every 6th post or something.

It does irreparable damage to my psyche.

I don’t understand how will the US keep control of Iraqi oil after they’ve withdrawn. Can’t Iraq just nationalize, I mean, if there are no US boots on the ground the oil will go where they please no? Or is the current state so CIA infested that it wont be possible?

From my understanding, the US has Control over Iraq’s assets and treasury. Withholding funding of oil that Iraq has sold is the main way the US forces Iraq to submit to their demands. I forget the exact mechanism unfortunately, but essentially, the US can just freeze Iraqi assets whenever it wants.
