❗️Yemen hospitals overwhelmed as war casualties surge, Red Cross warns
Hospitals across Yemen are struggling to treat a sharp increase in wounded people along several front lines, with some facilities admitting more than 700 casualties in a single week, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) warned today.
Hospitals in Marib, Taiz and along the Red Sea coast have reported unprecedented numbers of wounded, according to the agency, as medical staff face mounting pressure amid shortages of surgical supplies, anesthesia, oxygen and essential medicines.
“Trauma care staff are under enormous pressure,” said Feras Abusamra, the ICRC’s health coordinator.
