  • Spring - it’s nice to see everything turning green again but all the trails are closed because everything is a muddy mess. 40s and wet is way worse than 0s and dry.

Summer - summer where I live is perfect. 70s during the day, 50s at night. Sleep with the windows open, wake up to birdsongs. All the outdoor activities.

Fall - cooler summer with better views, leaf season here is spectacular. We also have a massive bird migration that is fun to watch. All the hiking and biking I want.

Winter - can’t get enough snowboarding and fat biking. Some days it is cold AF but that is easily addressed with clothing and gear. Sometimes I wear ski goggles to go for a walk.

So in short, my favorite season is everything but spring lol.

  • Get a heart rate sensor (wrist or chest) and train by heart rate. Most of your cardio should be heart rate zone 2 on the 5 zone scale. This builds your aerobic capacity with minimal damage and can be done almost indefinitely. Harder efforts do more damage and add recovery time so should be limited to about two a week.

If you’re going slow you’re doing it right, it will suck less, and you’re more likely to continue. Your slow speed will get faster over time.

  • Food that is actually spicy. I know it is available at some locations on earth, but I do not live within 500 miles of any of them. The only place near me that even offers a legit hot sauce is a food truck and that one is still a bit tame.

I’ve never seen sourdough French toast at a restaurant and it is literally the best bread to use. The texture holds up well to the egg dunk and the funky sourness complements the otherwise cloyingly sweet dish. Even better, instead of syrup I use salted irish butter, making it a savory dish with a hint of sweet cinnamon.
