    🇮🇷 — Full Text of the Statement of the Assembly of Experts:

    In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Noble and free nation of Islamic Iran, may the peace and blessings of God be upon you.

    The Assembly of Experts, while offering condolences on the martyrdom of the great leader, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei (may God sanctify his pure soul), and other esteemed martyrs, particularly the high-ranking and selfless commanders of the Armed Forces and the students of the Shajareh Tayyibeh school in Minab County, and condemning the brutal aggression of criminal America and the wicked Zionist regime, informs you: Immediately after the news was released regarding the martyrdom and celestial ascension of the wise and prudent leader of the Islamic Revolution—despite the acute state of war, direct threats from enemies against this popular institution, and the bombing of the Secretariat offices of the Assembly of Experts which led to the martyrdom of several staff members and the security team—this Assembly did not hesitate for a moment in the process of selecting and introducing the leader of the Islamic system. In accordance with the duties stipulated in the Constitution and the internal regulations of the Assembly of Experts, it placed the necessary measures and arrangements for holding an extraordinary session and introducing the new leader on its agenda. Consequently, appropriate planning and coordination were carried out to convene the honorable representatives of this Assembly from across the country so that, despite the clever provisions in Article 111 of the Constitution for the formation of a temporary council, the country would not face a leadership vacuum.

    Honoring the lofty position of the Guardianship of the Jurist (Wilayat al-Faqih) in the era of the occultation of the Imam of the Age (may God hasten his reappearance) and the importance of the issue of leadership in the system of the Islamic Republic, the Assembly of Experts cherishes 47 years of wise governance based on the principles of dignity, independence, and authority by the two Imams of the Revolution. While commemorating those divine and popular leaders, the Assembly announces that following precise and extensive deliberations and utilizing the capacity of Article 108 of the Constitution, in accordance with religious duty and belief in the presence of Almighty God, it has, in today’s extraordinary session, appointed and introduced Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may God protect him) as the third leader of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the decisive vote of the honorable representatives of the Assembly of Experts.

    In conclusion, while expressing gratitude to the members of the temporary council under Article 111 of the Constitution, we invite the entire noble nation of Iran, especially the elites and scholars of the seminaries and universities, to pledge allegiance to the leadership and maintain cohesion around the axis of the Wilayat. We pray for the continued grace and favor of the Almighty upon this country and its great people.

      Adding to this, Fortos adds valuable context on the election of Khamenei:

      Usually, the leader of Iran can recommend a successor to the Assembly of Experts, and the members take it into consideration when voting.

      Imam Khomeini recommended Martyr Imam Khamenei.

      However, Imam Khamenei did not have a recommendation, and left the decision completely up to the Assembly of Experts; who independently from all institutions, parties, and figured; chose and voted for Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

      So it’s not like his son succeeded him as in a monarchy system. He was elected through a complex and thorough voting system.

      • In 1986, he served on the front lines of the Iran-Iraq War at the age of 17 as a volunteer.

      • He was part of the Habib bin Mazahir Battalion of the 27th Mohammad Rasool-Allah Division.

      • He participated in several major military operations, including:

      • Beyt ol-Moqaddas 2, 3, and 4
      • Valfajr 10
      • Mersad (The final major battle of the war in 1988).

      PS: Contrary to propaganda claims, he DOES NOT have assets abroad. The UK daily mail has neen spreading this nonsense.

        I gotta say electing the leaders son did give me a bad feeling initially. But seeing that he was a volunteer on the front lines at 17 and having been the second pick makes me feel much better about this.

          I actually think it’s one of the better choices they could have made. I don’t know much about the other possible candidates but i suspect that they would have been generally on the older side. For a political and religious leader he is quite young which is a good thing because you don’t want to end up in a perpetual gerontocracy.

          Having someone younger could re-vitalize the whole system and inject much needed energy and impetus, and maybe be less conservative and cautious.

            My fear of nepotism is strong. But then I think of the descriptions of how the late Leader lived, with his simple furnishings and modest home and it makes me more confident. He lived in a simple way and rejected luxury that so easily could have been his. A man who does that probably isn’t going to raise an entitled asshole son and if he somehow did he would have made sure people knew not to put his asshole son in power.

      O noble and faithful children of the Islamic Iranian people; we offer our congratulations on the election of the General Deputy of Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his honorable reappearance), and the Leader and Guardian Jurist (Wali al-Faqih) of the Islamic Revolution and the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Assembly of Leadership Experts. This follows the martyrdom of the second wise Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei (may Allah have mercy on him), who led the Revolution and the Islamic system for 37 years with wisdom, strength, and integrity, guiding them through difficult historical turning points.       The election of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution by a decisive majority of the experts of jurisprudence, with sufficient precision and sobriety and under the current complex circumstances, has proven to everyone that the path of the Islamic system does not stop, and that the Revolution and the Islamic system are not linked to a single person.

      Certainly, the Guardian Jurist of this era, and the builder of the monotheistic society, will lead the country and the Revolution through difficult turning points toward the lofty goals of the sacred Islamic system through a growing and advanced administration.

      The Revolutionary Guard, as a soldier and a powerful arm of the Wilayah, and in support of the choice of the esteemed Assembly of Leadership Experts, stands ready for complete obedience and the sacrifice of lives for the divine commands of the Guardian Jurist of this era, His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei, and to preserve the values of the Islamic Revolution and protect the precious legacy of the two Imams of the Revolution: His Eminence Imam Khomeini (may God’s pleasure be upon him) and Imam Khamenei (may God’s mercy be upon him).

      It is essential in this sensitive historical stage that all segments of society and those protective of Islamic Iran keep the divine testament of His Eminence Imam Khomeini (may God’s pleasure be upon him)—which says: “Support the Wilayat al-Faqih so that no harm may befall your country”—before their eyes and hearts, and to step with their majestic and epic presence in defense of the Wilayat al-Faqih, the system, and the Islamic Revolution, on the path of completing the victories and triumphs of Islamic Iran over all bloodthirsty oppressors, dictatorships, monarchies, and Zionists, until the achievement of the modern Islamic civilization and the appearance of the sun of the Great Wilayah.
