❗️UAE ambassador warns Iran must be defeated to end regional threat to US interests

The UAE ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, wrote in an opinion piece for The Wall Street Journal that the US-Israeli war on Iran must end with a clear and decisive outcome that removes what he describes as Tehran’s long-term ‘threat’ to regional stability. His comments echo increasingly public statements from some Gulf states expressing concern about Iranian missile and drone strikes on infrastructure and facilities linked to US interests in the region, which have been used in attacks on Iran.

Otaiba warned that a premature ceasefire could leave Iran with what he describes as substantial regional influence. He insisted that any resolution address the issues he identifies, including Iran’s so-called ‘nuclear program’, ballistic missile capabilities, support for resistance factions in the region, and disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—claims that widely form the core of US and Gulf interests.
